posted 7/4/04 9:28:46 PM I am a novice "mechanic" trying to do my own work on my vette. I have recently replaced the plugs, wires, points. The dwell is at 30 degrees, timing at 12 degrees BTDC. The car will not idle properly and backfires through exhaust upon acceleration. If I remove the No. 1 plug wire, there is little effect upon the way the car is idling..It is as if there is no spark getting to the plug (but there is spark)Can anyone help me??? Could the coil be weak?? I apologize for my lack of knowledge but I am trying to do things myself using only the service manual. I also have rebuilt the Rochester quadrajet carb...Any help would be greatly appreciated... Dan
